Cochrane Pumps was formed in 1983 to manufacture and market pumps in Zimbabwe and surrounding areas.

Initially a joint venture between Cochrane Holdings of Harare, Zimbabwe and Stork NV of Holland, Cochrane Stork Zimbabwe soon became the leading manufacturer of pumps. When Stork sold their pumping interests to Johnson Pump of Sweden, we became Johnson Pumps Zimbabwe and, more recently,  Cochrane Pumps Zimbabwe (Pvt.) Ltd.

The photo to the right shows the Founding directors of Cochrane Stork following the signing of the JV agreement in 1983. From left Willem Lubbers (Stork Projects), Jan de Kok (Stork International Director), John Cochrane (Cochrane Holdings CEO), Albert Meyer (President of Stork NV), Denzil Cochrane (Chairman of Cochrane Holdings) and Joe van den Bergh (Stork Zimbabwe Manager).
